United Arab Emirates
Fresh U.S. fruit shipped to the United Arab Emirates must be accompanied by a Phytosanitary Certificate and an Import Permit. Blueberries shipped to the UAE must be inspected and free from Spodoptera frugiperda (fall armyworm). All shipments are subject to a 14-day maximum allowance from the date of inspection to the date of export.
UAE defers to the international Codex MRLs first, and then defers to EU MRLs second. For 87 pesticides with U.S. blueberry MRLs, 10 pesticides have no Codex or EU MRLs established, and 44 are more restrictive than the U.S. MRL. Thirty-three (33) of these pesticides have a Codex or EU MRL harmonized with or set higher than the U.S. MRL.
As a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the UAE applies the GCC common external tariff of 5 percent for most merchandise, including frozen and dried U.S. blueberries. The UAE applies the GCC common external tariff of zero percent on essential items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, including fresh blueberries.
